Student Festival 2010 opened at the Vietnam Exhibition and Fair Centre on January 8, drawing around 40,000 students from 60 colleges and universities in Hanoi.

At the opening ceremony, the Hanoi Youth Union introduced the establishment of the Hanoi Youth Development and Support Centre with the aim of assisting students in career building, employment, life skills and scientific research.

The main event of the festival is a seminar on jobs for students with the participation of leaders, labour managers and businesses.

Over 100 students from art and architecture schools have created the largest-ever painting of Hanoi themed “Evergreen Hanoi”. The painting is 1.5x60m in size and portrays the efforts of students to keep the city green and clean.

Additionally, other students have set up 60 tents to showcase their creative works. A fashion competition named “Creativity without Limits” and a “Talented and Charming Student” contest have been held.

Traditional cuisine and Hanoi specialties will be served up by students in the “Hanoi in Past and Present” section on January 9.

The event is organised by the Hanoi Students’ Association and the Hanoi Youth Union on the 60th anniversary of the Day of Students and Pupils (January 9) and to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.
