SAR 412 approaching the two troubled trawlers |
On receiving the mayday, the MRCC Center called for help from other fishing trawlers nearby. Trawler QNa 90378 TS captained by Ngo Tan Lai with five fishermen on board reached the scene and started to tow the troubled trawler ashore.
However, due to the harsh weather then, the engine of trawler QNa 90378 TS also broke down, causing a lot of difficulties to the rescue. Failing to fix the engine, the captain had to call the MRCC Center for help.
The center then sent Ship SAR 412 to rescue the two trawlers. Crossing more than 200 nautical miles at night, the rescue ship reached the scene at 3:00 on May 7. The rescuers then took 16 fishermen aboard the ship and towed the two damaged trawlers ashore.
