The sailor suffered from a work accident, resulting in internal bleeding and a broken leg. He was in critical condition and needed to be given timely emergency aid. However, no necessary equipment and personnel on the ship could offer appropriate treatment.
Upon receiving a mayday signal from the ship, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (Vietnam MRCC) tried to communicate with other sailors and instructed them to give first aid to the distressed. It also sent the vessel SAR 411 to conduct rescue missions.
At the same time, the Vietnam MRCC asked ship ANTE TOPIC to speed up to Hai Phong port.
Due to strong winds and high seas, it wasn’t until after 12:00 am the same day, ship SAR 411 approached the foreign ship, took the distressed sailor aboard and sailed him to Hai Phong for further treatment.
With timely rescue, the sailor was no longer in a critical situation.
