Scholarship gives strength to students in Mekong delta in pursuing learning
A scholarship program run by Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper and Binh Dien Fertilizer Company today presented scholarships to 167 poor freshmen from 11 city and provinces in the Mekong delta.
The annual program, titled “Tiep suc den truong” (Giving Strength to Students), granted 12 special scholarships each worth VND15 million ($646.2) to most disadvantaged college students.
Another 155 scholarships each worth VND10 million were given to poor students who tried their best in pursuing learning.

Total scholarships is VND1.7 billion funded by the Fund “Dong hanh cung nha nong “ ( Accompanying with farmers).
Professor Phan Luong Cam, late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet's wife, gave VND100 million to the fund as well as granted 10 scholarships to students from the Mekong delta province of Vinh Long.
Before, the annual program had offered 581 scholarships to poor students in the central provinces of Quang Nam, Da Nang, Quang Tri, Thua Thien – Hue and Khanh Hoa.
As per the year plan, around 1,1000 scholarships will be given to students from low-income families in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak, Hanoi, Ben Tre in the Mekong delta and Ho Chi Minh City .
