Addressing the event, Deputy-Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, head of the National Inter-sector Steering Committee on Food Safety, underlined the necessary close coordination among relevant agencies to ensure food safety.

In addition, they should continuously raise the public awareness of and knowledge about the harms of unsafe food, which pose a direct threat to the public health. Therefore, customers are able to distinguish safe from unsafe food while producers have to apply and develop safe production chain models and food supply chains, he said.

Mr. Dam urged to raise the “food safety” criterion in different emulation campaigns in order to raise the public’s responsibility for this issue.

Also at the ceremony, a contest on emphasizing the importance of food safety was launched in the media.
