Part of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits, the meeting brought together 11 AZEC participating countries, namely Australia, Japan, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Launched in 2023, the AZEC initiative serves as a multilateral cooperation mechanism to help Asian countries tackle three key challenges: sustaining economic growth, ensuring energy security, and pursuing economy-wide decarbonization under the principle of “one goal, multiple pathways.”
At the event, delegation heads welcomed the outcomes of the third AZEC Ministerial Meeting held in Kuala Lumpur on October 17.
They adopted a joint statement, which highlighted progress made since the second AZEC Leaders Meeting and emphasized the need to accelerate actions during this critical decade, in line with the action plan endorsed at the second meeting and consistent with the policies of AZEC partner countries.
