Over VND 20 billion raised for children with congenital heart disease
PANO – The organizing panel of the “Operation Healthy Heart” program received more than VND 20 billion from individuals and organizations nationwide, at an event reviewing eight years of the program implementation on the evening of October 8th in Hanoi.

Addressing at the event, Vice State President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh highly valued the meaningful program for children born with congenital heart diseases, and praised donors for their contributions to the fund, and international and domestic doctors who had participated in the program, helping change the fate of thousands of poor children.
Vice State President Thinh also urged individuals and organizations at home and abroad to continue providing financial and technical assistance for the program so that it can benefit more children with congenital heart diseases.

According to the organizers, with the assistance of Vietnam Television and military-run telecom group Viettel, people can donate money for the program by ringing number 04 62 576 576 or texting TTCE to 1408. Each SMS contributes VND 18,000 to the program.
Since October 2008, the program has collected VND 110 billion, and conducted free heart surgeries for more than 3,000 disadvantaged children under 16 years old with congenital heart diseases.
The program, in collaboration with heart hospitals nationalwide, provided free screening tests for over 30,000 disadvantaged children in remote areas to find out cardiovascular diseases at early stage, so that they could be treated on time.
