Outstanding ethnic minority students honored in Hanoi
PANO - As many as 161 ethnic minority students from 50 provinces and cities nationwide were honored at a ceremony on Nov. 4 in Hanoi.
The ceremony was co-held by the Committee on Ethnic Minority Affairs (CEMA), the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee with Deputy-Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh in attendance.
Accordingly, among the honored this time were 95 students, who won the State-level academic awards, 62 others who recorded the highest scores at the 2017 national university entrance exams, and the remainders are four medal winners at international sports competitions.
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy-Prime Minister Binh praised and congratulated the students for their achievements, and hoped that they would continue striving to become good citizens, contributing to the national construction and development cause.
He reminded that the Party and State always lay much importance on developing education and training in line with science and technology, especially in remote and mountainous areas. Thus, he suggested CEMA and MOET should set up concrete plans on developing ethnic minority human resources, and asked all-level authorities to encourage and benefit mountainous teachers and students in the time to come.
