Nam Pam Bridge returned to operation
PANO - Nam Pam Bridge, whose head-ends were badly damaged by flash floods on August 3 in Muong La district of the Northwestern province of Son La, and which isolated some communes of the district, has just been repaired and put back into use again.
Nam Pam is a life-line bridge of Highway 279D traversing Muong La district. The relief efforts for the local flood-hit victims were badly affected by the damaged bridge.
With the spirit of mutual affection and love, Son La Hydropower Company teamed up with Son La Transport Works Construction Company No.1 and promptly carried out a survey at the bridge site, made a repair plan, and worked out technical measures to ensure absolute safety of personnel and equipment while repairing the bridge.
For two days, on August 10 and 11, the involved units successfully installed two girders, each weighing 15 tons, and with lengths of 15m and widths of 6m, and ensured high quality repairs and safety.
After 6pm on August 11, all traffic between the central Muong La district and the flood-devastated Nam Pam commune resumed.
