More than 6 million orphans, disabled people supported
PANO – The Association for the Support of Vietnamese Handicapped and Orphans (ASVHO) has carried out a number of meaningful activities to help more than 6 million needy people overcome their difficulties since 2012.
The information was released at a press conference to announce the fifth national congress of the ASVHO, which was jointly held by the ASVHO and the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) in Hanoi yesterday.
Speaking at the press briefing, President of the ASVHO Nguyen Dinh Lieu said that the fifth national congress of the 2017-2022 tenure will start on April 14 to review the association’s activities over the past 5 years, evaluate its achievements and shortcomings, and discuss measures to organize activities more effectively in the new context as well as map out directions for the next tenure.
A charity art performance program called “One heart – One world”, the 14th iteration of this kind, will be held within the framework of the congress, aiming to raise public awareness of issues of the disabled and honor good examples of disabled people and orphans and the contributions of sponsors to the association. The program also aims to raise fund to support people with disabilities and orphans nationwide.
