PANO - The US Agency for International Development (USAID) launched its projects to support people with disabilities in Binh Phuoc province on November 13th.

The projects will be implemented in the Southern province by the Action to the Community Development Centre (ACDC) and the Vietnam Assistance for the Handicapped (VNAH). They aim to enhance the enforcement of laws on the disabled and their rights, provide the disabled with improved legal aid and access to information and public transportation, and help them fully integrate into society.

Of the two projects, one is to imrpove the execution of the rights for disabled people, by the end of  2018, while another focuses on rights enforcement, coordination and therapy until 2021.

Director of the Environmental and Social Development Office at USAID Christopher Abrams said at the signing ceremony that the US government is pleased to back Vietnam’s efforts to support disabled people living in poor provinces and dioxin hot spots.

At present, Binh Phuoc province is home to approximately 48,000 people with disabilities, around 5,200 of whom have severe disabilities.
