More supports for flood victims
PANO – On Oct. 17, a mission of the National Assembly, headed by Deputy-Chairman Uong Chu Luu visited and offered 80 gifts to flood victims in the communes of Yen Lac (Yen Dinh district) and Xuan Yen (Tho Xuan district) in Thanh Hoa province.
During the visit, Deputy-Chairman Luu asked the local authorities to accelerate their efforts at overcoming the after-effects of the flood and helping locals to stabilize their lives. He noted that the local authorities should pay more attention to the supply of treated water, ensuring clean water for the peoples’ daily use as well as providing prompt and fair aids to all disaster-affected households.
The NA official also enquired after and offered gifts to the victims, including policy beneficiaries and needy families in the province.
* The same day, Ms. Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, Permanent Deputy-Secretary of the Hanoi Municipal Party Committee and Chairwoman of the municipal Red Cross handed over gifts worth VND 515 million in total, including VND 100 million in cash, 800 boxes of noodles, 800 water cans, two tons of rice and numerous other necessities, to flood victims in the districts of My Duc and Chuong My of Hanoi.
* According to the Department of Search and Rescue under the General Staff, the Ministry of Defense ordered the Hoa Binh Provincial Military Command to continue mobilizing forces to search for the missing and helping locals overcome the flood’s consequences. Until now, 1,583 troops, including 342 soldiers, 295 militiamen and 946 civilians were mobilized for the search and rescue missions. Two more bodies of missing people in Tan Lac commune, Hoa Binh province have been recovered and 12 more households in the area were evacuated to safer places.
