Heavy rains caused floods and landslides which had left 11 dead, 6 missing and 3 injured in Sin Ho district, Lai Chau province.

Floods also destroyed or swept away 44 houses, damaged 25 homes and submerged 46 others.

The delegation transferring gifts to the flood victims

After receiving the information, the Vietnam Youth Union (VYU) Central Committee has mobilized resources of donors to support locals to overcome the consequences of the floods.

Accordingly, the delegation visited and presented 500 gifts, worth VND 150 million, to heavily-affected families in Sin Ho district and supported the families of dead victims, the families of missing persons and the flood-affected families at a total cost of VND 150 million. People in Lai Chau province received relief worth VND 300 million. In addition, the ThanhNien Newspaper, in association with Tuoitre Newspaper in Ho Chi Minh City and Sao Viet Volunteer Club, also donated VND 200 million to the victims.

Besides, the Vietnam Youth Union (VYU) Central Committee will continue to support flood-hit victims in Lai Chau province in particular and local people in other provinces such as Ha Giang, Lao Cai in general to overcome the consequences of the disaster.
