Doctors performing surgery to remove the iron bars

Earlier on May 10, the Emergency Unit of Military Central Hospital 108 received a male patient, who was born in 2004. He fell off from the 5th floor of a house on prone position while he was working in a construction site in Van Giang district, Hung Yen province.

Three twisted iron rods pierced from his abdomen through hypogastrium, buttocks, left thigh and leg.

When he arrived at the hospital, despite being given timely first aid, the patient showed weak response and a lot of pain.

On receiving the patient, Military Central Hospital 108’s doctors immediately held an emergency consultation and transferred him to the operation room. Specialized doctors were mobilized to perform the operation.

The three iron bars successfully removed by doctors

The doctors performed endotracheal intubation, conducted essential surgeries to remove the iron bars from the body, and sutured and drained the bladder. They also conducted laparotomy to check the patient’s organs, performed ostomy surgery, removed the broken bone fragments from the left acetabulum, and made a wide incision to leave the wound open and wait for further treatment.

At present, the patient’s health is stable. Doctors are waiting for him to recover before continuing to treat bone and joint injuries.
