“My parents gave birth to three children, I am unfortunately contaminated with AO from my father. By the eighth grade, I could no longer walk. My family's life was extremely difficult as my father passed away early in a traffic accident. Since then, my mother raised my sisters and I,” said Cong.

His mother, Le Thi Tham, always encourages him to overcome difficulties in studying. As a result, Cong graduated with an Information Technology bachelor degree from the University of Sciences, Hue University in Thua Thien Hue province. However, when he first opened his own store, a storm came and destroyed the house. He then received assistance from the association and local authorities to continue to develop the economy.

Another example is AO/dioxin victim Pham Cong Thang in Hoan Lao townlet, Bo Trach district. With the loan support of VND 10 million (no interest for five years) and capital support of VND 5 million from the association, his family bought machines and invested in farming. Currently, Thang’s family has become a bright spot in local economic development.

Bo Trach district currently has 949 AO/dioxin victims. Chairman of Bo Trach district’s Association for AO/dioxin victims Phan Luong noted that with the coordination of local authorities, individuals, organizations and sponsors, since 2015, the district has mobilized more than VND 6.4 billion to support AO victims to repair houses for 118 families and take care of 272 victims with over VND 819 million, among others.
