Joining hands for children
PANO - A “charity busking” band was established in Hanoi to help child patients pay their hospitalization costs.
After three successful singing performances, Phuong Anh, the band head, said the idea of establishing a group of buskers to help child patients on Facebook has suddenly drawn a lot of attention and support, especially from youths.
Lots of child patients have received hospitalization cost support from the band.
So far, the band has attracted nearly 900 members, including students, engineers, and doctors. They all want to assist disadvantaged children, with the aim of “Joining hands for children.”
The band organizes performances on streets twice a week to raise money for charity. Apart from singing, members of the band also wear uniforms, and help people clean up streets.
After five months, the band raised VND 220 million to pay hospitalization costs for disadvantaged child patients in Hanoi; and presented VND 34 million and 100 gifts to flood victims in the Central region.
"I hope in the near future, the group's activities will get more support from the community to help disadvantaged child patients," Phuong Anh said.
