Int’l scientific workshop on typhoon warnings held
PANO - The National Center for Hydrometeorology Forecast organized a scientific seminar under the theme “Embracing new technologies and knowledge to meet the challenges in the new era of tropical cyclone forecasting” under the chair of the ESCAP/WMO Typhoon Committee on February 26 and 27 in Hanoi.

Scientific reports delivered at the seminar focused on research and updated information on technologies related to monitoring, analyzing and positioning typhoons’ eyes and power, high resolution models on typhoon warnings, warning systems, progress of typhoon forecast and warning, management of risks caused by natural disasters, forecast of flooding, flash floods, flooding in urban areas, application of satellite information in typhoon monitoring and analysis and others.
Outcomes of research and updates made clear applicably scientific and technological solutions that member nations could apply to make effective adaptation to climate change.
Based on scientific and realistic foundation learnt from the seminar, the delegates made suggestions and proposals with the aim of efficiently exploiting information about hydrometeorology to serve the sustainable socio-economic development of nations and territories.
