The company gave 338 helmets to first graders at Tran Quoc Toan school at the first event of a programme on delivering helmets to children in Hanoi in 2019.

The programme aims to raise the awareness and observance of rules on wearing helmets when riding motorbikes and electric bicycles among the public in general and children in particular.

According to the city’s traffic safety committee, Hanoi aims to raise the proportion of children wearing standard helmets when travelling on the road to 80 percent in 2020.

Statistics showed that only 35-40 percent of children aged from six and above wear helmets, while the ratio among adults is more than 90 percent. Many parents have not made their children wear helmets or have given them unsafe helmets.

A similar programme was launched in June this year on the national scale, under which over 1.93 million standard helmets will be presented to first grade students in the 2019-2020 academic year.

In the 2018-2019 school year, Honda Vietnam delivered nearly 2 million standard helmets to first graders nationwide, contributing to increasing helmet wearing among 6-year-old children in Vietnam.
