Ho Chi Minh City, Son La join UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities
PANO - Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City and Son La city are among 64 cities from 35 countries worldwide recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as members of the “Global Network of Learning Cities” (GNLC) at a ceremony held on February 14.
According to Ambassador Nguyen Thi Van Anh, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UNESCO, the recognition is a source of pride for Vietnam as well as an international acknowledgment of the outstanding efforts made by the two cities in promoting lifelong learning among local people.

It also reflects specific steps in the implementation of policies and guidelines of the Party and the State regarding international integration and education promotion.
Dao Quyen Truong, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Cultural Diplomacy and UNESCO Affairs under the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, evaluated the recognition as the result of the implementation of the cultural diplomacy strategy to 2030, making contribution to successfully implementing the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress, Resolution 22 of the Politburo on international integration and Directive 25 of the Secretariat on promoting and enhancing multilateral foreign relations by 2030.
