HCM City launches humanitarian month
PANO - The Ho Chi Minh City Red Cross Society on May 5 launched the Humanitarian Month with the theme “Humanity - From awareness to action” in the city.
The month-long campaign, running until the end of May 2018, is part of activities to mark the Red Cross and Red Crescent Day (May 8) themed “Everywhere for everyone”.

The launch of the month is aimed at promoting good deeds among the public and enhancing authorities’ sense of responsibility towards humanitarian activities, contributing to easing poverty and building a community of solidarity.
At the ceremony, VND 42 billion was raised by local organizations, individuals and donors.
On this occasion, the Vietnam Red Cross Society's Central Committee also launched a charity texting campaign, which will run until June 26, to support impoverished fishermen. Accordingly, each SMS with the content “BD” sent to 1407 will donate VND 20,000 to the fund.
