HCM City ensures traffic safety for Tet
The Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Safety Committee has deployed various measures to ensure traffic safety and order in the city before and during the Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday.

Nguyen Ngoc Tuong, deputy chief of the committee, said, “The campaign aims to reduce traffic congestions and accidents to ensure that the city’s residents have a happy and peaceful holiday.”
The committee has worked with the Road - Railway Traffic Police Division (PC67) to enhance inspection at hot spots for traffic accidents and congestions.
The traffic police force is on duty 24/7 before and during the holiday to ensure smooth traffic and punish any violating vehicles at the city’s gateways and crowded places, such as railway stations, piers, coach stations and bus stations.
The inspection focuses on inter-provincial coach stations in Ho Chi Minh City, including Mien Dong (Eastern) Coach Station, Mien Tay (Western) Coach Station, An Suong Coach Station, Cho Lon Coach Station, District 8’s Coach Station and Nga Tu Ga Coach Station to prevent the selling of black market fares and unlicensed coaches.
Unsafe vehicles, drivers using alcohol and drivers who do not have driving licenses or authentic certificates will be strictly punished.
The police have enhanced inspection at road-rail intersections to reduce railway accidents.
The committee has also cooperated with the Waterway Police Division (PC68) to manage violations on major waterway routes, such as Sai Gon, Dong Nai and Can Giuoc Rivers and Tau Hu - Ben Nghe Canal.
The police will strictly punish vehicles with overloaded cargos as well as overloaded river buses and ferries to ensure safety for passengers.
