The Hanoi Public Transport Management Center will offer offline mode for virtual tickets for public transport from September 20 to make it more convenient for city’s commuters, its director Thai Ho Phuong said on September 18.
Passengers will need to update the “The Ve Giao Thong Ha Noi’ (Public Transport Tickets in Hanoi) application in order to use the e-ticket even without an internet connection, he said, adding that the app is easy to use and suitable for all passengers, with secure information protection.

Over the past years, the center has been carrying out research into the application of digital technology in the public transportation sector, with the goal of gradually digitizing operations to make it a convenient means of transport for local residents.
Hanoi currently has a total of 153 bus routes, including 128 subsidized routes, nine non-subsidized ones, 12 connecting the city with neighboring provinces, and three city tour routes. The public bus transportation network has seen significant improvements in service quality. However, the goal of meeting 30-35% of residents' travel demand remains a major challenge.
The bus system operated by the Hanoi Transportation Corporation (Transerco) transported over 118 million passengers in the first six months this year.
