Hanoi plans to grow 400,000 trees in 2019
Hanoi aims to grow 400,000 trees this year and 600,000 trees between 2019 and 2020 to green up the city.
In response to the New Year (Tet) tree-planting movement initiated by late President Ho Chi Minh, the city is growing 150,000 trees in districts, towns, public places, offices, schools and hospitals from February 9-15.
The Hanoi Green Tree and Park One Member Co., Ltd. said it has planted various kinds of trees across 12 districts of the city.
Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung emphasized the need to grow diverse types of trees and maintain the development of indigenous trees.
He recommended supplying new varieties which are suitable with the capital’s soil and climate conditions, agreeing on the size of trees, and adopting proper caring techniques.
Hanoi fulfilled its goal of growing one million trees two years ahead of schedule in 2020.
