French Ambassador to Vietnam Jean-François Girault has granted the Ordre national de la Légion d’honneur (the National Order of Legion of Honour) of the French government to Mrs. Nguyen Thi Xuan Phuong at the French Consulate-General in HCMC for her contributions to developing Vietnam-France relations.
Former war reporter Xuan Phuong, born in 1924 used to be director of the Vietnam Television retired in 1989. During the past 30 years of service, she had been a reporter, translator and writer to introduce Vietnam’s images to French readers.
In recent times, she led 28 French cinema delegations to Vietnam and also led many Vietnamese art delegations to France for various exhibitions. At present, she owns the Lotus Gallery.
Previously, on July 11th, Ambassador Jean-François Girault also conferred the National Order of Legion of Honour on Vietnamese-French Bui Van Tuyen, 91.
The National Order of Legion of Honour is the noblest order of France and was inaugurated by Emperor Napoléon Bonaparte on May 19th, 1802 to honour individuals and organisations for their great contributions to France as well as relations between France and other nations.
