The family of Non-commissioned Captain Bui Phu Nghia |
When we arrived at the house of Non-commissioned Captain Bui Phu Nghia, the two brothers’ father, we were welcomed by Bui Huu Bao at the gate. Then we had an unexpected meeting with his grandfather, Mr. Bui Minh Phung. Nghia told us that he and his father always discussed everything together before making decisions, therefore, he invited Mr. Phung to come.
Mr. Phung, an 80-year old man, said that he was afraid that the children might say something exaggerated. He always tells them to be modest.
The rules that Nghia’s family has maintained are worthy, especially in the current society. Everyone should discuss everything together. For example, the children often ask their father before they are going to their friends’ house.
According to Mr. Phung, the family’s rule should be followed at anytime. Grandparents and parents should always be examples for their children.
As a border soldier, Nghia regularly has to do his duty and worked far from home. His wife is the same because she works in the tourism sector. Fortunately, thanks to the support of the grandfather, who has become the twin brothers’ teacher, his children have a sense of learning from an early age.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, he and his wife are not at home; therefore, the twin brothers have to take care of each other and go to school by bus or electric bike. Even on the day that the twin brothers took part in the high school graduation exams, both father and mother were not able to be with them, so they had to do everything by themselves.

Nghia told us that his two sons often refuse to go out for a trip at weekends because they want to spend more time for learning. Meanwhile, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ranh, mother of the twin brothers, said that her husband is an example for the two sons. He is a very strict and responsible father. He often shares matters of concern and gives advice to his sons. For example, the selections of universities were decided by themselves. Ranh and her husband just gave their sons basic information and helped them when they asked for.
Bui Quoc Bao was the new valedictorian of the Hanoi Procuratorate University. He was selected to be a representative for freshmen to deliver a speech at the online opening ceremony of the 2021-2022 academic year held recently. Also at the ceremony, the school’s principal handed over certificates of merit and rewarded money to the valedictorian and the salutatorian.
Upon receiving the news about the two sons of Captain Bui Phu Nghia, the Border Guard Command and the Khanh Hoa provincial Youth Union chapter presented gifts to them. Colonel Pham Manh Hung, Deputy Political Chief of the Khanh Hoa provincial Border Guard Command, said that troops of the provincial Border Guard Command felt happy and proud of the twin brothers. Captain Nghia and his wife have overcome hardships to take good care of them, he stressed.

The twin brothers have the same interests but they have chosen to learn at different universities. Bui Quoc Bao selected Hanoi Procuratorate University while Bui Huu Bao decided to learn at Ho Chi Minh City Law University.
