5,000 people walk for AO/dioxin victims
PANO – More than 5,000 people from companies and agencies, students, Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin victims, and those with disabilities joined a charity walk to raise funds for AO/dioxin victims and needy people with disabilities in Ho Chi Minh City on August 5.
The event aims to raise funds for AO/dioxin victims and those with disabilities.
Organized by the Ho Chi Minh municipal Red Cross Society on the occasion of the Agent Orange Day in Vietnam (August 10), the 11
th event conveyed a message of significance of sharing and support for AO/dioxin victims, the poorest and most vulnerable people in the society.
Since its start in 2011, the program has raised VND 13.6 billion, providing support for thousands of victims of Agent Orange. Last year alone, Red Cross societies of wards and districts in Ho Chi Minh City presented thousands of gifts, including cash, wheelchairs, and cattle and repaired houses for the victims. Thanks to the assistance, many victims have overcome difficulties to have a better life.
At the event, the program honored exemplary AO/dioxin victims with indomitable spirit and people with disabilities and those with great contributions to taking care of the people.
