PANO - A two-day scientific seminar, “Victory of Highway 9-Southern Laos in 1971-Scale, Significance and Historical Lesson”, will open on November 29th in Dong Ha City, Quang Tri Province.

A press conference, held in Hanoi on November 22nd by the Defence Ministry and Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee, unveiled that around 70 speeches by Lao and Vietnamese military senior officers, Vietnam’s military historians and some leaders of ministries and sectors were sent to the organising board.

According to Colonel Nguyen Phuong Dien, Deputy-Head of Propaganda and Training Department, who chaired the press conference, these speeches comprehensively highlight the role and lucid and gifted leadership of the Central Party Committee, the Politburo and the Military Central Commission and the maturity in direction of the Defence Ministry in the Campaign of Highway 9-Southern Laos in 1971.

The unique feature of Vietnam’s art of war in organising and operating this 52-day Campaign will be also analysed and reviewed at the seminar.

Notably, the solidarity and special alliance between Vietnam and Laos’ armies and people in the Campaign will be made clearer.

Highway 9-Southern Laos Campaign in Spring 1971 brought more bright prospects for Vietnam’s resistance war against American imperialists for the country’s liberation.
