PANO – The two Australian Navy warships, HMAS HUON and HMAS YARRA, commanded by Lieutenant John Relyea and Lieutenant Bradley Vizard, respectively, will visit Ho Chi Minh City from October 10th to 14th.
During the visit, the 100-member crews of the coastal mine hunters will meet with senior officers and sailors from the Vietnamese People’s Navy (VPN) to engage in a range of goodwill activities and conduct a professional exchange on mine-hunting techniques.
Besides, they will play friendly sporting matches with troops from the Naval Technical College, the Vietnam Swans at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Ho Chi Minh City Campus and do charity work as well as go on a sightseeing tour of the city.
The HMAS HUON and HMAS YARRA are modern mine hunters with a unique hull design, which is shock resistant with a low magnetic and acoustic signature.
The visit of the two Australian warships to Vietnam will strengthen the relationships between our the navies in particular and two nations in general.
