Representatives from the Philippines thanked Vietnamese people in general and naval soldiers stationed on Sinh Ton Island in particular for wholeheartedly rescuing and treating the distressed man.
They affirmed that that deed once again stressed the good relationship between the two navies.
As reported, on February 8th or the first day of the Lunar New Year 2016, Sinh Ton soldiers found a capsized boat floating near the island with a man shouting for help. In spite of bad weather, they saved the troubled victim.
* The same day, four fishermen on trawler QB-92671TS, which sank at sea, were safely taken ashore. The rescuers are making efforts to locate other missing men.
Earlier, on February 15th, the fishing boat, captained by Nguyen Ngoc Hai from Quang Binh province, with seven fishermen on board, sank in rough waves while fishing at high sea.
