State President Nguyen Minh Triet on April 18 sent a message of condolences to his
US counterpart, George W. Bush, over the tragic incident at the Virginia Tech university.
President Triet wrote: “I am profoundly saddened by the news of the tragic incident on April 16, which took the life of many at Virginia Tech. It is a great and incompensable loss to the families of the victims, Virginia Tech and the United States of America.
”On behalf of the people and the State of Viet Nam, I would like to express my deepest sympathy and condolences to you, Mr. President and to the bereaved families and Virginia Tech.”
