PANO - The Vietnam Association of Studying the “Tale of Kieu” and the National Library of Vietnam on July 28th co-hosted a scientific seminar themed “Great Poet Nguyen Du and the Masterpiece “Tale of Kieu” in Hanoi.

It is the third seminar of its kind in celebration of the 250th birth anniversary of reputed poet Nguyen Du (1765-2015) and at the same time an activity as part of the honoring ceremony for this world cultural celebrity this November.

Researchers presented 30 speeches concentrating on the value of the contents and the timeless art of the “Tale of Kieu”, and its political, socio-economic, cultural factors at that time. They also discussed the localities that had influence on the creativity of Nguyen Du and his masterpiece; and the ties between the novel “Jin Yun Qiao” by Qingxin Cairen and the “Tale of Kieu” by Nguyen Du.

The “Tale of Kieu” by Nguyen Du is known worldwide. To date, it has been translated into about 20 different languages, including French, Chinese, Russian, English, Japanese and German.
