Equipped with a GPS and other modern navigation systems, the two 26m-long, 6.8m-wide, and 3.8m-high boats were built at the cost of VND 8.7 billion (USD 400,000) each. However, the boat owner had to pay VND 1.2 billion (USD 55,000) at the handover of the boat and the remainder is to be paid in installation over a period of 11 years at a zero interest rate, thanks to the assistance from the Quang Ngai Fishermen Support Fund, .
With a capacity of 811CV, 5 cabins for fish, water, and material storage, the two modern boats can fish non-stop at sea for around 1 month. As planned, the two boats will start operating at sea in June.
On this occasion, the State Bank of Vietnam funneled VND 5 billion (USD 232,000) to the Quang Ngai Fishermen Support Fund to further support the province’s fishermen under Government Decree 67/2014/ND-CP (program to boost fishery development).
