The training of human resources, particularly qualified staff will play an important role in helping remote and mountainous areas in difficult circumstances to develop more strongly and effectively, said Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh.

On December 8, Party leader Nong Duc Manh and National Assembly (NA) deputies from northern mountainous Thai Nguyen province met with voters from Thai Nguyen University and the Thai Nguyen Steel and Iron Complex to report to them on the results of the second session of the 12th NA.

Voters expressed their delight at this year’s socio-economic development and the success of the second session of the 12th national legislature.

At the meeting, students and teachers from the Thai Nguyen University put forward difficulties they are facing in education, scientific research and the application of technology in remote and mountainous areas. They asked the Party and State to provide more capital and essential facilities for education centres to increase the quality of teaching and facilitate students’ schooling.

Meanwhile, staff and workers from the Thai Nguyen Steel and Iron Complex expressed their concern about difficulties in production activities, upgrading the infrastructure and creating jobs for rural workers and university graduates. In the face of price hikes due to market fluctuations, they asked the NA and Government to take effective measure to stabilise market prices.

Party leader Manh thanked voters for giving their opinions on burning issues that need to be deal with by the Party and State as soon as possible.

2008 will be a pivotal year for the five-year plan for socio-economic development (2006-2010). Therefore, the Party and State will show their great determination to fulfill all the tasks and targets adopted at the second session of the 12th NA in order to bring Vietnam out of its underdeveloped nation status before 2010, said Mr Manh.

The Party leader also underscored the need to give priority to education and training in remote and mountainous areas and called on education centres to increase the quality of education and training in keeping up with national development.

On the occasion, provincial leaders and NA deputies also answered many direct questions that concern local voters.
