Viet Nam
will do its utmost to foster the strategic partnership it has with
Belgium and the European Commission in all fields of mutual interest, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung affirmed.
Receiving the new Belgian Ambassador to Viet Nam Hubert Cooreman in Ha Noi on December 5, PM Dung made the statement and spoke of the recent working visit to Viet Nam by the European Commission (EC) President, particularly a cooperation agreement to be signed in the future between Viet Nam and the EC.
The government leader proposed Belgium support the efforts towards the agreement as it will lift the Viet Nam-Belgium and EC cooperations to a new level.
He also said he hoped the ambassador will act as a bridge to bring more investment into Viet Nam .
The country currently has 20 Belgian-invested projects, worth around 70 million USD. The figure has not yet matched the two countries’ cooperation potentials.
For his part, Ambassador Cooreman applauded the achievements Viet Nam has made in socio-economic development and global integration, the country’s accession to the World Trade Organisation and it’s 2008-09 permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council.
The Belgian diplomat pledged to spare no effort in fulfilling his mission, helping to promote the traditional relations between the two countries in all domains.
