PANO – The program “Operation Healthy Heart” provided free cardiac screening for children in Ca Mau on May 17th. It was the 7th cardiac screening in the province, since early this year.

According to the program, the rate of children born with congenital heart disease in Ca Mau is higher than in other places that the program has screened. Most of the families of children with congenital heart disease are poor and unable to afford heart operations for their children.

Giving medical advice

The program “Operation Healthy Heart”, organized by Vietnam Television and Viettel Group, mobilized VND 90 billion and successfully operated 2,700 children under 16 years old diagnosed with congenital heart disease over the past 7 years. The operations contributed greatly to changing the lives of these impoverished children and their families.

In addition to heart surgery, the program also cooperated with cardiac hospitals to provide 16 free screenings for 16,000 needy children in remote areas. The program’s goal is to provide free heart operations to 3,000 needy children and to screen 30,000 needy children for congenital heart problems.
