PANO – Ethnic minority students should continue their academic endeavors to make contributions to the country-building process in general and their hometowns in particular.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc made this statement at a ceremony to honor 122 outstanding students of various ethnic minority groups nationwide in Hanoi on November 7th.

The event was co-organized by the Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Training, and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s Central Committee.

Among the honorees, there are many excellent faces who achieved prizes and high records at national level academic competitions and previous national university entrance exam.

While hailing their achievements, the Deputy PM stressed the importance of education and training to sustainable poverty reduction, especially in mountainous areas home to ethnic minority groups.

This was the fifth time the organizers had held the meaningful program in order to encourage ethnic minority students to overcome difficulties to win the best academic results.
