The Prime Minister has just given the nod, in a public document issued by the Governmental Office, for the designing of a National Museum of History.
Accordingly, the museum will be located in the Western West Lake new urban area. It will cover an area of 10 ha and be situated within the 28 ha open space of the Friendship Park in the 2 communes of Co Nhue and Xuan Dinh, Tu Liem, Hanoi.
Designers stated that the open-air exhibition will occupy some 30,000 square meters that will include green parks and a lake that surrounds the main building.
Under the Prime Minister’s instructions, the design should meet both traditional and contemporary requirements and the complex should be an international attraction.
When the project is completed, it will display exhibits featuring various periods of Vietnam’s history; serve as an information center; and a cultural heritages reference and data hub.
The project is expected to be wrapped up in 2012.
