More sewage treatment plants planned for Nhue-Day river basin

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a master plan for drainage and wastewater treatment development in residential areas and industrial zones in the Nhue-Day river basin through 2030, which provides for 24 new sewage treatment plants to be constructed. The total budget for the master project is 108 trillion VND (5.2 billion USD) and it covers the entire basin of Nhue-Day River in the provinces of Ha Nam, Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh, Nam Dinh and Hanoi with a total area of 7,665 sq.km.
It proposes to develop nine drainage systems for the basin with construction of reservoirs, water collection and pumping stations, and wastewater treatment facilities in residential areas and industrial zones.
The scheme will consist of construction of 24 sewage treatment plants, including 12 for Hanoi, one for Luong Son town in Hoa Binh province, four each for Ha Nam province’s Phu Ly city and Ninh Binh city of Ninh Binh province, and three for Nam Dinh city of Nam Dinh province, respectively.
