They acknowledged the Party and State’s efforts in designing policies in gender equality, along with the completion of many legal documents in the field as well as endeavors of the Government, ministries and sectors in implementing Law on Gender Equality.
In addition to completing legal framework in the field, gender equality has been integrated into law-making process, they said, adding that communications and personnel for the work have been strengthened.
The deputies recognized positive results in improving gender equality in some sectors and areas.
However, they pointed out that the report has yet to clarify full and accurate data of outcomes of conducting some targets, and poor performance in implementing other goals such as equality in employment opportunity, education and health care access, eliminating violence and abuse against women and women trafficking, and legal support for women.
State management over gender equality has shown many shortcomings, they said, adding that inspection in many localities is still ineffective.
Meanwhile, engagement and support of male in activities improving gender equality have remained modest, the deputy noted, stressed the need to raise public awareness of both men and women in the work.
Lawmakers also asked the Government to adjust and complete the report, with more detailed measures in improving legal framework in gender equality as well as associating the matter into socio-economic and law-making process, and strengthening personnel and budget for the work.
Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung clarified some relevant issues raised by the deputies.
In the afternoon, the legislators debated a report verifying the draft bill on revised Anti-Corruption Law before discussing in groups the bill.
On November 10, they adopted a resolution on socio-economic development plan for 2018, and gave ideas on a verification report on the draft revised defense law and revised law on measurement and map. They also discussed the draft revised law on measurement and map in groups.
In the afternoon, they listened to a verification report on draft law on special administrative-economic units and discuss in groups the bill.
