Deputies Tran Kim Luan from Phu Yen, Kso Phuoc from Gia Lai and other deputies said that during the law-making process, priority should be given to important laws such as the Law on Nationality, the Law on Food Hygiene and Safety and the Law on Advertisement.

National Assembly (NA) deputies on October 30 discussed the 2007 law and ordinance-making program and the 2007 supervision programme with NA Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Yeu in the chair.

Under the law and ordinance making program in 2006, the NA considered and adopted 25 laws and one resolution, and gave opinions on 25 draft laws.

At its 9th session, the NA approved 10 laws and one resolution and gave opinions on 13 other laws. At its 10th session, it is expected to consider and adopt 11 laws and give opinions on 6 others laws.

Most deputies agreed that the law making process has met requirements for State management, socio-economic development, international economic integration, and national defense and security.

Deputies Tran Kim Luan from Phu Yen, Kso Phuoc from Gia Lai and other deputies said that during the law-making process, priority should be given to important laws such as the Law on Nationality, the Law on Food Hygiene and Safety and the Law on Advertisement.

Deputy Huynh Van Ti from Binh Thuan underscored the need to define the possibility, feasibility and quality of draft laws. He said it is necessary to abolish any draft law that fails to define its quality to give priority to more important laws, Mr Ti stressed.

Under the law and ordinance making program in 2007, the NA will approve two draft laws including the Law on amendments and supplements to some articles of the NA Organisation Law and the Law on Legal Aid at its 11th session in March 2007. The draft law on chemistry and the draft law on amnesty will also be submitted to the NA for consideration.

NA deputies will discuss the implementation of the anti-Corruption Law on October 31.
