PANO – The Ministry of Public Security and the Ho Chi Minh municipal People’s Committee recently held a firefighting and rescue exercise at the Tower of Vincom Center B, Ben Nghe ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.

About 2,000 people from departments, boards and sectors of the city, and 79 specialized equipment and vehicles including fire-trucks, rescue vehicles, stair vehicles, command vehicles, and ambulances joined the event.

This is the first time the city has conducted such a large-scale exercise in the basement area and the top floor of a multifunctional skyscraper with high population density. The exercise was implemented successfully with smooth coordination among responsible units. The rescue contents consisted of first aid provision, transport of seriously-injured victims to hospitals, people evacuation, and fire control.

The exercise aimed to promote people’s awareness of firefighting and search and rescue, strengthen the capabilities to deal with on-spot situations, and improve coordination among responsible units.
