The 1,000 patient-bed hospital will specialise in high quality tumour treatment, applying advanced medical technology. The 10-storey building includes an outpatient clinic, a sub-clinical and diagnostic area, and an administrative area.

Hua Ngoc Thuan, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee said that the facility would help ease the burden on other oncology hospitals in the south.

The construction is scheduled to start in the second quarter of this year and the facility is expected to become operational in 2017.

Ho Chi Minh City’s first Oncology Hospital was founded in 1985, serving as the main centre for cancer treatment in southern region. It is capable of providing various kinds of treatment, such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy.
