PANO - An offering of Tet cakes (cylindrical glutinous rice cakes) to the national ancestors, the Hung Kings, took place at the National Cultural History Park in HCM City on the morning of February 6th.
The ceremony was attended by a delegation of HCM City Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Vietnam Committee of Fatherland Front and a number of local people.
Alongside Tet cakes, there are other offerings of specialties of Southern Vietnam, including Ba Diem betel and areca, Go Den alcohol, Bao Loc tea and Gia Dinh cakes.
The same day, the delegation offered incense, laid a wreath and paid tribute to heroic martyrs at the City Cemetery.
Incense and Tet cakes were also offered to late President Ho Chi Minh and President Ton Duc Thang at the HCM and Ton Duc Thang Museums.
* Later in the day, the delegation, led by Le Thanh Hai, Politburo member and Secretary of the City’s Party Committee, and Le Hoang Quan, member of the Central Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee, visited and wished a happy Tet to Naval Region 2 and troops of Air Defence Division 367.
During the visit, the head delegates highly valued the two units’ efforts and achievements in 2012 that contributed to the development and integration of the city. They hoped that the two units would bring their traditions into full play, continue to build strong units and accomplish their assigned missions in 2013.
