PANO - General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong presented the 75-year Party membership insignia to Le Duc Anh, former Politburo member cum former State President, on July 29th in the presence of President Truong Tan Sang and Defence Minister Phung Quang Thanh.

Born in 1920 in Ban Mon commune, Phu Loc district, Thua Thien-Hue Province, Le Duc Anh joined Vietnam’s revolution in 1937. During his revolutionary career, he held different positions, such as Advisor of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission and Minister of National Defence.

Addressing the ceremony, held by the Party committee of the Office of the Central Military Commission, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong laid stress on the great contributions of Le Duc Anh to the national revolutionary cause and the growth of the army. The General Secretary also highlighted his revolutionary virtue at all positions.

Le Duc Anh thanked the Party and its members for their care for him and other revolutionary veterans.
