PANO – The Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and Hai Phong municipal People's Committee on December 25th signed the document to hand over the management of the power system of Bach Long Vi island district from the municipal people's committee to EVN.

Regarding the importance of the supply of power to the island district, EVN, subsequently, assigned the Northern Power Corporation and Hai Phong Single-member Power Limited Liability Company to implementing the plan. Accordingly, the two units are to prepare investment plan and report the feasibility of the power supply project in the island district.

The signing ceremony

The power supply project in Bach Long Vi island district has a total investment of VND 148 billion, consisting of the installation of 4 wind electric turbines with 250KVA capacity each, solar panels with the total capacity of 500kWp, 2 diesel generators of 2MVA in total, the storage system capable of storing 7.48MWh, and a control and supervision system.

When operational, the system will provide uninterrupted power around the clock for the island instead of the previous alternating power supply pattern (day-on, day-off). This is the hi-tech power supply system, exploiting to the maximum the wind and solar force, ensuring sustainable socio-economic development and serving the implementation of the security-defense missions of the island district.

In 2016 and 2017, the Northern Power Corporation will continue to implement more power projects for the island district to meet its projected electricity load in accordance with the approved socio-economic planning of the district and the Tonkin Gulf’s Fishery Logistics Service Complex Construction Project in Bach Long Vi island district period 2014-2020.
