Cultural diplomacy has helped Vietnam to develop in a sustainable manner during the process of international integration.

Vietnam’s Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Thanh Son, stated this when speaking to nearly 30 ambassadors and the country representatives of several international organisations currently operating in Vietnam, at a meeting in the ancient capital city of Hue on April 9.

Cultural diplomacy helps to promote Vietnam, its people and its culture to people overseas, as well as giving the country a taste of other cultures, said Son.

The delegates at the event also discussed different methods of preserving and developing national heritages.

Links between the central province of Thua Thien-Hue and other countries was also tabled for discussion.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea (RoK) Ha Chan-ho, underlined the need for Thua Thien-Hue to work more in conjunction with its neighbouring localities, such as Da Nang and Quang Nam, to attract more visitors.

He added that the restoration of historical sites and more investment in local infrastructures are essential.

The delegates suggested that Thua Thien-Hue develops better quality human resources and liaises with other cities around the world to promote the area to the world at large.
