The construction of a biological technology center (HCM-Biotech) was started on May 25th in Trung My Tay Ward, District 12, Ho Chi Minh City.

HCM-Biotech, covering 23 ha, is a center of multiple functions from research and application to training, technology transferring and eco-production for agriculture, medicine and environment.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Agriculture and Rural Development, the project manager, the center will contain 13 sections with modern equipment and machinery, and the single research and pilot production section has 12 laboratories.

The project is expected to be finished in 2014 with investment for the first phase of US$ 100 million. When the center is operational, some 300 researchers and technicians will work there.
