A television project on ethnic minorities in the period of 2011-2012 (VTV5) will be on air with issues on politics and socio-economy, according to Mr. Lam Kiet Tuong, Deputy-Director of Vietnam Television.

Vietnam Television will develop VTV5 to be a national channel. VTV5 will be a general channel to propagate guidelines and policies of the Party and State’s laws in the languages ​​of different ethnic minorities. The program will improve people's knowledge as well as promote economic development, and meet requirements of people of ethnic minorities in cultural enjoyment.

VND786 billion, will be allocated to 5 VTV units, 40 local television stations and one border guard television station.

Vietnam Television Station plans to co-operate with 40 local television stations to train reporters and editors of ethnic minority languages.
