Recalling the life and career of his predecessor, Le Kha Phieu said Do Muoi actively joined revolutionary movements since young. He joined the democratic movement in 1936 and the Communist Party in 1939. He was arrested and sentenced to 10 years in prison by the French colonialists in 1941. Breaking out of prison in March 1945, Do Muoi continued to actively engage in revolutionary operations.
Throughout over 70 years working, Do Muoi was assigned to take charge of various fields and sectors both in wartime and peacetime. Trained and tested in reality, Do Muoi matured into a cadre with firm stuff, sharp wit, decisive actions and close bond with the people.

Former Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu affirmed that Do Muoi was a very capable cadre with high sense of responsibility. He was enthusiastic and fair-minded, and always kept his words.
Even when retiring, Do Muoi continued to contribute his opinions to the national construction cause while respecting and supporting the younger generations.
He is a respectable person, a revolutionary veteran and a bright example of Vietnam’s revolution, Le Kha Phieu said.
Phieu recalled that when in office, Do Muoi paid special attention to the building of the Party, especially Party organizations at grassroots level. He contributed greatly to the Party Central Committee’s resolution on democratic mechanism at grassroots level, with many principles on Party building still upheld now.
“Do Muoi was always firm with principles and stance, while attentively listening to others and seeking and fostering cadres for the Party. He was very carefully in selecting cadres, preferring those who are dynamic, enthusiastic and active, and he rarely made mistakes in this work. He always listened to reason, and resolutely struggled for the right, never for personal interest,” Le Kha Phieu said, adding that he was trusted and loved by many.
“I respect and learn a lot from Do Muoi’s example on dedication to the Party and the people,” Le Kha Phieu said.
