PANO - On June 5-7, Rear Admiral Phan Tuan Hung, Deputy Commander of the Vietnam People’s Navy (VPN), and Ship 20’s officers and troops under Brigade 172 of Naval Region 3 took part in a series of activities within the framework of the ongoing 4th Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo (MNEK-4) in Makassar city, South Sulawesi province, Indonesia.

Themed “Partnership to Recover and to Rise Stronger,” the MNEK-4 attracts the participation of representatives from navies of 36 countries in the world. The VPN’s Ship 20 is one of the 17 foreign ships joining the event.

The MNEK is held biennially by Indonesia in different places. In 2020, the event was called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since the first edition in 2014, the VPN sent ships to the event to realize directions of the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense on international integration and defense diplomacy and consolidate and strengthen the sound friendship and cooperation between Vietnam’s military and the VPN with militaries and navies of other countries.

The People’s Army Newspaper Online would like to introduce some photos featuring the VPN’s activities in Makassar.
